Microblock Technology has revolutionized the way video streams are synchronized, encoded and distributed globally. At its core, the technology ingests a variety of video sources and generates compliant CMAF outputs that integrate into existing CDN’s and video players. We implement this technology in both our range of physical encoders for on-site usage, or in the cloud with virtual encoders.

Our patent pending Microblock technology

Synchronizer
The Synchronizer ingests a variety of video source formats and converts these to a Microblock protocol. Individual Microblocks are perfectly time synchronized at ingestion.
Real-Time Distributed Encoding
Microblock Technology has enabled Real-Time Distributed Encoding, where a cluster of encoding nodes work together to encode individual Microblocks. This offers a significant performance gain over existing linear encoding pipelines.
Co-Ordinator
The encoded output remains wrapped in a Microblock protocol and ingested to a regional edge cluster in the cloud. From this regional edge cluster, the Co-Ordinator will move the Microblock stream in real-time to additional global edge clusters in the regions where content is to be consumed.
Each global edge cluster will output CMAF streams to regional CDN’s for last mile distribution to playback devices. The Co-Ordinator is designed to keep streams perfectly in sync and overcome latency and drift associated with common CDN global usage.
Packager
Once the Microblock stream has reached the closest edge cluster to where content will be consumed, it is packed into a CMAF (MPEG-Dash / HLS) Ultra-Low latency fragmented stream and egressed out to a regional CDN for last mile distribution to playback devices. Optionally, DRM (AES 128bit CENC/CBCS) can be implemented on the CMAF (MPEG-Dash) stream output.

Integration

Microblock Encoders ingest, synchronize and encode input source feeds into a Microblock format, before they are distributed through the Mobii platform.
The Mobii One is designed for “Drop & Go” portable deployment. It will ingest a single feed, synchronize, encode and upload a Microblock stream to the nearest cloud regional edge cluster for global distribution via the Co-Ordinator.
The Smart Encoder is designed for semi and permanent based on-site installation. Deployed into sport stadiums/arena’s, Broadcast production sites, Data Centres and Outside Broadcast vehicles, the Smart Encoder will ingest a variety of input video sources such as SDI, NDI, SRT, MPEG-TS. The encoder will ingest, synchronize, encode and upload Microblock streams to the nearest cloud regional edge cluster for global distribution via the Co-Ordinator, or output a variety of streaming formats to local network for on-site usage.
Virtual Machines, deployed in the cloud, are Microblock enabled to provide a scalable deployment approach. Virtual Encoders will ingest, synchronize and encode a variety of network based streams such as SRT and RTP, into a Microblock wrapped format for distribution via the Co-Ordinator.
